Peer Review Process
It is acknowledged by Alphabet that peer reviewers are the fundamental foundation of scholarly publishing. Their critical engagement with submitted manuscripts guarantees the intellectual contribution, academic rigour, and integrity of each article we publish. The time, expertise, and dedication of our reviewers to the advancement of high-quality research in the fields of literary, cultural, and language studies are deeply appreciated.
In order to conduct timely, constructive, and fair reviews, Alphabet, a biannual open-access journal, relies on a diverse and international network of scholars who donate their time. Our reviewers' extensive disciplinary knowledge and methodological expertise allow us to uphold the standards of a multidisciplinary field that fosters innovation and dialogue.
Alphabet conducts a double-blind peer review process for each manuscript that is submitted, ensuring that anonymity is preserved to ensure objectivity and impartiality. The academic background and familiarity with the specific topics discussed in the submission are the determining factors in the selection of reviewers. In addition to supporting editorial decisions, their feedback also contributes to the intellectual development of authors.
We recognise the critical role that our reviewers play in advancing scholarly conversations within and across the fields of language, literature, and culture, and we are grateful for the collegial spirit with which they engage in this important academic service.
Standards and Ethics for Reviewers
Alphabet is focused on upholding the most stringent standards of transparency and peer review ethics. We are in accordance with the standards set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect that our reviewers will:
- maintain confidentiality throughout the review process,
- avoid conflicts of interest related to authors, institutions, or research topics,
- provide objective, respectful, and constructive feedback, and
- report any concerns related to plagiarism, ethical misconduct, or data falsification.
Our reviewers adhere to these principles in order to preserve the integrity of the academic publishing process and foster a scholarly environment that is inclusive and respectful.
